The Tailor of Kings Highway
The Tailor of Kings Highway
  Synopsis

The Tailor of East Kings Highway . . . A Fable of sorts, reveals the story of a master tailor on Kings Highway in Brooklyn, New York. The play begins when a tall, severely hunchbacked man enters the tailor shop. The man, Mr. Holstrom, a Finnish sea captain, presents a bolt of fabric to Morris (the tailor) asking simply, “Can you make me a suit? A suit that fits?” The fable continues when we discover that Mr. Holstrom believes the fabric to be magic and, if tailored properly, will make his back straight. The fable takes a major turn when Mr. Holstrom, while trying on the suit, feels, “It doesn’t fit.” Mr. Holstrom demands of Morris that the fabric be returned to the bolt as it was before the suit was made. After being told that this is, of course, “impossible,” Mr. Holstrom demands, “Compensation!” The story continues with many twists and turns.
